One of the oldest museums in northwest Pacific is the Portland Art Museum. The number of collection in this museum is both old and vast. The experience of visiting this museum would surely keep anyone mesmerized by its vastness. The museum has over 35,000 items of collection and this changes from time to time as the articles keep shifting from one museum to another. Collections from other museums also keep coming in to this museum. Hence this keeps the number of articles varying from above and below the stated figure.
The museum was founded in 1882 and is recognized as “one of the best medium-size museums in New England,” by The Boston Globe. Hence this clearly indicates that this museum is definitely well maintained, as managing to keep an old and large collection in a medium sized building is surely a very difficult task. Morover this museum is also very popular as it has a very high number of visitors with a total amount of 1,50,000 visitors per year out of which 30,000 are schoolchildren.
